Regards, Scott Child SBPD Sergeant, Ret. Gigi Hanna From: Dave Dillon <dgdbronco@aol.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2019 3:34 PM To: Gigi Hanna Subject: Agenda items 24 & 25 I strongly object to both these items on the agenda. I'm a retired supervisor from the police department. There are way to many supervisors from Captain to Sergeant. Those positions were never reduced during and after the bankruptcy. The department is still way below the one time 350 quota of officers. There has never been a reduction in supervision. The jail is not plausible. It does not meet the CA Department of Corrections guidelines to be a useable facility. It would cost a whole lot of money to bring it state guidelines. The money can be spent elsewhere Sent from my iPhone Gigi Hanna From: Christina Breiten <melkaratemom@icloud.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2019 3:35 PM To: Council; Gigi Hanna Subject: Opposition to Agenda item 25 Please record my opposition to Agenda Item 25. The item is vague related to costs of COPS and current staffing levels need to be analyzed further before authorized number of Sergeants increased. Reckless spending at this point C Leon Sent from my iPhone Gigi Hanna From: Christina Breiten <melkaratemom@icloud.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2019 3:40 PM To: Gigi Hanna; Council Subject: Community Oriented Policing Agenda item 25 in its current form should be continued until a more careful analysts and study can be done to determine if 5 additional Sergeants are actually needed. Please be responsible with our city dollars. We really need to focus on street repairs if we have that much extra funds Esther Dawson Sent from my iPhone Gi i Hanna From: John Montecino <jrmontecino@gmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2019 3:40 PM To: Gigi Hanna Subject: Item 24 My name is John Montecino, I am a retired police officer from San Bernardino PD and one of the 24 retirees which had up to 20% of their pension taken away due to the City Bankruptcy. I am completely against creating new supervisor and manager position and opening the City Jail. This is reckless spending which is not necessary. You are headed down the wrong path again and will eventually cost us our PERS next time. Look elsewhere to curb your crime issues, spending isn't going to improve it. The police departments budget has increased 10 million dollars since exiting bankruptcy. Now the Mayor wants to open the City jail at a cost of close to a million dollars and add 7 management positions to an already management heavy police department. This kind of spending will send us right back to bankruptcy Markene Davis Sent from my iPhone -4vu (,n4ll A(1, .
