Arrowview Animal Hospital has indicated it is no longer able to provide veterinary care a.
to the City of San Bernardino. In an effort to continue to provide the needed veterinary
care, staff recommends the purchase order for primary veterinary service with Dr.
Bishay/Advanced Pet Care be increased by $20,000 for a total of$98,000. This amount a
will allow Dr. Bishay/Advanced Pet Care to take over veterinary services previously
provided by Arrowview Animal Hospital that include providing veterinary services to
injured animals found in the field, sick animals sent from the shelter, and to continue the
voucher program which supports the Cat Trap and Release Spay and Neuter Program. a
Dr. Bishay of Advanced Pet Care was selected in FY 2016/2017 to provide our primary E
veterinary services for the shelter. Due to the untimely loss of Arrowview Animal U
Hospital as a source of veterinary services, Dr. Bishay/Advanced Pet Care is willing to a
provide these additional veterinary services in order to support the Shelter, the City, and
the community.
Staff requests that Dr. Bishay and Advanced Pet Care remain the selected veterinary
service for the City of San Bernardino Animal Control and that the current purchase

order for Advanced Pet Care be increased to a total of $98,000 utilizing existing funds
within the Animal Control budget.
Fiscal Impact
Funds have been appropriated in the FY16/17 Adopted Budget. Funds will need to be
transferred from Arrowview Animal Hospital Purchase Order to the Advanced Care
Purchase Order. The Arrowview Animal Hospital purchase order includes $37,258.57
originally budgeted for veterinary services. Of this, $20,000 will be used to fund the N
increase in the Advanced Pet Care Purchase Order under Veterinarian Services.
