Recommendation o
Adopt a resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Bernardino,
California, authorizing the award of a purchase order for the purchase of mobile data
computer (MDC) equipment from DuraTech USA, Inc. in an amount not to exceed a
$161,000.

Background
The Police Department proposes to purchase 25 new patrol vehicles. Each of these
vehicles will need to have mobile data computer (MDC) equipment installed. The MDC o

equipment is comprised of a mobile computer, mounting equipment, and cabling. LU
Seventeen of the vehicles will be the Ford Explorer model, five of the vehicles will be d
the Ford Taurus Interceptor model, and three of the vehicles will be the Ford Escape

In May 2017, bid RFQ F-17-20 was sent to four vendors. Two of the four vendors 0
responded to the bid and in June 2017, the bid was awarded to DuraTech USA, Inc. in
the amount of$147,594.89. o
Some of the 25 new patrol vehicles were received in June 2017. The building process 0
of these vehicles should begin during mid-July 2017. W

Fiscal Impact
The bid response included a project cost of $147,594.89. The authorization request L
includes a 10% contingency amount for a total authorization request of $161,000. The a
funds are appropriated in the Police Department FY 2016-2017 budget account as:

RFP F-17-20.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY a
8 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: c

SECTION 1. DuraTech USA Inc. is hereby determined to be the lowest and best
10
11 responsible bidder for the purchase of mobile data computer(MDC) equipment for the Police c
12 Department's patrol vehicles as specified in bid RFQ F-17-20. Pursuant to this determination, d
13 the Mayor and City Council authorize the Director of Finance or his/her designee to issue a
14 purchase order for $147,594.89 to DuraTech USA Inc. for mobile data computer (MDC) a
15
equipment. The Purchase Order shall reference the number of this Resolution and shall read, Ln
16
17 "DuraTech USA, Inc. Mobile Data Computer equipment. Not to exceed$161,000.00." E
SECTION 2. The above authorization is rescinded if it is not executed within ninety
