Subject: Purchase of Police Motorcycles from BMW Motorcycles
Recommendation
Adopt the Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Bernardino,
California, authorizing the issuance of a Purchase Order to BMW Motorcycles in the
amount of $83,300.00.
Background
The Police Department's motorcycle fleet is aging and in need of replacement. Bid
requests were sent out May 2016 under RFQ F-16-09, see Attachment 2. Two vendors
replied with the lowest quote received from BMW Motorcycles of Riverside.
The lowest bid is $27,743.36 per motorcycle. The original bids were valid for 120 days,
Dan Schoo owner of BMW Motorcycles will honor the original bid through April 30,
2017, pursuant to an email dated February 1 , 2017, copy attached as Attachment 3.
Discussion
The Police Department is requesting to purchase (3) three BMW Police Motorcycles
from BMW Motorcycles of Riverside.
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund with this purchase. Funds were
appropriated in the FY16/17 Adopted Budget in the Traffic Safety Fund account
number 128-210-0087'5701 in the amount of $540,000 which is intended for use on
items related to traffic safety.
Conclusion
Authorize the Director of Finance to issue a Purchase Order to BMW Motorcycles of
Riverside in the amount of $83,300.00
