At the request of the Ways &Means Committee, staff and Southern California Edison Company have gone to the stadium to determine what steps could be taken to make the facility more cost efficient. The attached schedule is the product of those discussions. The schedule will allow the City to reduce operating costs at the stadium by$24,900 per year. The schedule has been approved by the Stampede Baseball Team and the lighting changes have been approved by the San Bernardino Police Department. This schedule of cost reductions is the first opportunity staff has taken at making the stadium more cost efficient. In the future, staff will continue to evaluate opportunities to and implement these changes as they are identified, to modify lighting, air conditioning, and other building systems to save costs and to make operations more efficient. FINANCIAL IMPACT The cost savings measures included in this council action will save the City Of San Bernardino $24,900 annually. The installation costs associated with these energy measures are $14,000. The project costs should match the energy savings during this fiscal year, assuming the project is completed by mid-year. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Council approve the cost savings measures for the San Bernardino Stadium and authorize the transfer of funds from Stadium Electric Charges to Alterations and Renovations.
