May 1998—July 1998 Student Secretary at Community Hospital Education Department — Worked under the three Month Learn and Earn Program. Typed and filed letters and spreadsheets. Learned to work more quickly and cooperatively with people from other departments and backgrounds. This was a fun experience that showed me how teamwork and time management can be used on a job. CLUBS AND ORGANIZATION INVOLVMENT: A Peer Leadership—July 1997 to Present: This club taught me how to help others and myself at the same time. This helped to make me a better person at home and school. Youth to Youth—July 1997 to Present: I interact with other youth to spread the drug-free message in my community. ➢ Speaker's Bureau—August 1997 to Present: I perform skits with other youth showing the causes,cffects,and consequences of youth taking drugs. ➢ Key Club—September 1997 to Present: i I am the Chairperson of Activities in the community service organization. I organize car washes, fashion shows and beach clean-up so we can cam money to give to homeless and abused people. ➢ BSU(Black Student Union)—September 1997 to Present: In this club,we do research and tell others what people don't learn in school about African American Leaders. This expands people's knowledge of Black people, history, and culture. AWA pS: e Honor Roll—Obtaining above a 3.5 OPA • Peer Leadership—For participation in club activities • Youth to Youth--In completion of drug training • Key Club—"Key Clubber of the Month" • Project Star—For completion of a Calculus course at UCR ♦ Make A Difference Award for completing over 100 hours community service • Arrowhead Farms/Newmark Elementary — for organizing the First Annual Barbecue at Newmark Elementary
