05/18/98 --- Public Works Department was authorized and directed to proceed with the proposed two
street name changes from Central Avenue to "North Mall Street" and Benedict Street to
"South Mall Street"
Recommended Motion:
1) That the Public Hearing relative to the two street name changes of Central Avenue to "North Mall Way" and
Benedict Street to "South Mall Way" be closed.
AND
2)Adopt the Resolution.

STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT:
Public Hearing July 6, 1998, 10:00 a.m. and Resolution Authorizing—Street Name Change—for Two Access
Roads to Inland Center Mall, Central Avenue to "North Mall Way"and Benedict Street to "South Mall Way"
BACKGROUND:
General Growth Management of California, Inc., a management company, initiated the change in the name of two
access roads to Inland Center Mall, Central Avenue to "North Mall Street' and Benedict Street to "South Mall
Street'.
On 05/18/98,the Public Works Department was authorized and directed to proceed with the two street name
changes.
On 05/19/98, City Departments were notified of the proposed two street name changes and given an opportunity to
comment on the proposal. All the departments had no objections to the change
On 05/21/98 General Growth Management notified the Public Works Department that they had made a suffix error
and requested "Street'to be changed to "Way" in both street name changes. The new names would be "North
Mall Way" and "South Mall Way".
No objections were received from the adjacent property owners or occupants.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The applicant has paid a$500.00 non-refundable processing fee for the street name change and will pay the cost of
new street signs.
RECOMMENDATION:
We recommend the change of two street name changes Central Avenue to North Mall Way and Benedict Street to
South Mall Way.
Urgency clause: The adjacent property owners were notified that a Resolution regarding the street name changes
would appear at the Council Meeting schedule July 6, 1998 at 10:00 A.M. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, San

SECTION 1. That the name of Central Avenue West of"E" Street, be and the same is

9 hereby changed to read North Mall Way, effective immediately.
10 SECTION 2. That the name of Benedict Street West of"E" Street, be and the same is
11 hereby changed to read South Mall Way, effective immediately

SECTION 3. The City Clerk of the City of San Bernardino shall cause a certified copy
13
• 14 of this Resolution to be recorded in the office of the County Recorder of the County of San
15 Bernardino.
