STAFF REPORT
BACKGROUND
It is requested that the Mayor and Common Council approve an Annual Purchase Order for FY'98/99
providing repairs and parts for City-owned Ford Motor products. The purpose of this request is to
provide appropriate limits for the fiscal year. The purchase order for this service totaled $65,000.00
last fiscal year in FY'97/98.
FAIRVIEW FORD
The City's fleet contains two hundred seventy-six (276)Ford Products. Generally, all Ford
dealerships offer similar pricing for parts and services. However, Fairview Ford is the only Ford
Dealership in the City of San Bernardino and is entitled to a 1% local bidder's preference therefore, it
is Staff's belief Fairview Ford provides the lowest net cost The fleet division is satisfied with the
service provided by Fairview Ford.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds for these purchase orders are contained in the Public Services Department, Fleet Division
Fiscal Year '98/99 budget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Mayor and Common Council authorize the Purchasing Manager to issue
an Annual Purchase Order to Fairview Ford in an amount"not to exceed" $64,000.00 for repairs and
the purchase of parts.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE

2 PURCHASE ORDER TO FAIRVIEW FORD FOR MAINTENANCE, SERVICES
AND PARTS TO BE UTILIZED BY THE FLEET DIVISION OF PUBLIC
3 SERVICES DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO.
4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
5 SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
6 SECTION 1. That Fairview Ford is the sole source provider of parts, services and
7 repairs of Ford Motor products. The total amount "not to exceed" of$64,000.00; pursuant
8 to this determination, the Finance Department is hereby authorized and directed to issue an
9 Annual Purchase Order for said Ford Motor parts and repairs to said selection as there is no
10
other alternative. Such award shall only be effective upon issuance of an Annual Purchase
11
12 Order by the Finance Department.
13 SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above referenced Annual Purchase
14 order is rescinded if it is not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
