STAFF REPORT
BACKGROUND
It is requested that the Mayor and Common Council approve an award for the purchase of Kawasaki
Motorcycle parts and service. The Fleet Division maintains fourteen(14)police pursuit motorcycles.
The Purchase order for this service was $37,000.00 in FY'97/98.
Notices inviting bids for FY`98/99 annual purchase of Kawasaki Motorcycle parts and service were sent
to six(6) vendors including Chaparral Cycle Parts of San Bernardino. Bid No. F-99-12 required bidders
to bid a representative sample of parts and service. One (1) sealed bid was received and opened on May
29, 1998. Staff recommends the bid from Kawasaki be accepted.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds for this purchase order are contained in the Public Services Department, Fleet Division Fiscal Year
98/99 Budget.
RECOMMENDATION
That the Mayor and Common Council authorize the Purchasing Manager to issue Annual Purchase Order
in the amount"not to exceed" $30,000 to Kawasaki of Riverside for the purchase of motorcycle parts and
service.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE

• CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING AN ANNUAL
2 PURCHASE ORDER TO KAWASAKI OF RIVERSIDE FOR PARTS AND
SERVICES TO BE UTILIZED BY THE FLEET DIVISION OF PUBLIC SERVICES
3 DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO.
4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
5 SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
6 SECTION 1. That Kawasaki of Riverside provides motorcycle parts and services
7 utilized by the City of San Bernardino Police Department. The amount "not to exceed"
8 $30,000.00; pursuant to this determination, the Finance Department is hereby authorized and
9 directed to issue an Annual Purchase Order for said Kawasaki of Riverside. Such award shall
10
only be effective upon issuance of an Annual Purchase Order by the Finance Department.

SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above referenced Annual Purchase

13 Order is rescinded if it is not issued within sixty(60) days of the passage of this resolution.
