STAFF REPORT
Subject
Renewal of agreement between the City of San Bernardino and the County of San
Bernardino Radio Division to provide rack spaces and digital transport circuits for
support of the Cities 800 megahertz radio systems.
Background :
On December 9,1993, the San Bernardino City Council approved purchase of an 800
megahertz radio system, dispatch consoles, and end user radio equipment. These systems
provide voice and data communications for the public safety departments (police and
fire) and voice communications for nonpublic safety departments such as Public Works,
Public Services, and Animal Control. These radio systems are housed in remote facilities
owned by the County of San Bernardino, the equipment is mounted in metal racks that
are rented on a per rack basis. The systems communicate back to the Police Dispatch
center over microwave data circuits, also provided by County of San Bernardino. Since
original installation of the City owned radio systems the County of San Bernardino Radio
Division has provided rack spaces and circuits.
Financial Impact : -
The total financial impact will amount to $34,112.00.
Recommendation :
Adopt resolution approving agreement with the County of San Bernardino Radio
Division to provide rack spaces and transport circuits for support of the Cities 800
megahertz radio systems.

CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $34,112.00 TO THE COUNTY OF SAN
4 BERNARDINO FOR LEASE OF 7 FULL HEIGHT RACKS AND 17 CIRCUITS
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 98/99.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF
6 THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
7 SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to issue a

contract in the amount of$34,112.00 to the County of San Bernardino for
9
10 lease of 7 full height racks and 17 circuits for the fiscal year 98/99.
11 SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above referenced contract
12 is rescinded if it is not executed within sixty (60) days of the passage of this
13 resolution.
• 14 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was fully adopted by the
15 Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino at a meeting
16
thereof, held on the day of 1998, by the following vote,to wit:

AMENDMENT NO. 1
Section 5.1 of Paragraph 5, General is hereby amended as follows:
Term - This License is valid until June 30, 1999, except as otherwise noted. COUNTY or LICENSEE may terminate this
Agreement by giving ninety (90) days written notice to the other party of this termination, except COUNTY may terminate
immediately in accordance with Paragraph 3.5. All other terms and conditions shall remain in full force and effect.
