STAFF REPORT
Subject: Request for Waiver of Temporary Use Permit Fee
Mayor and Common Council Meeting of December 16, 1996

The Gents Organization has acquired the former bowling alley at Norton for use as their new
facility. The facility is located at 1462 E. Art Townsend Drive. As noted in the attached letter,
the Gents Organization is raising funds for completion of their building and fire code
requirements. These requirements must be completed in order to obtain a Certificate of
Occupancy. The code requirements are costly, and the Gents Organization proposed to complete
them as funding is available.
The Gents would like to hold a New Year's Eve party at their new facility, but cannot complete
all code requirements by that time. A Temporary Use Permit is the appropriate process to allow
the use of the facility prior to all building and fire code requirements being completed. Only
minimum requirements will be applicable at this time, for this function.
The Gents Organization is preparing their application and building plans for submittal and
building permit issuance, in order to obtain a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy.
Costs
The Temporary Use Permit fee is $298. This fee covers staff time in reviewing and processing
the application.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Mayor and Common Council approve the request to waive the $298
TUP fee.

The GENTS ORGANIZATION is in the process of staging a New Year's Eve,
gala event on December 31, 1996 At the Norton cite facility, Bldg. # 190.
As you may be aware, the GENTS OGANIZATION has taken a vital role in the
support of our community's needs especially for the needy family's together with
BOARD of DIRECTORS_ other Community Based Organization's.
President At this juncture, the GENTS ORGANIZATION are in a fund raising mode for the

application that is now in the process awaiting a review date.
ViCe-Presldenr At this time we wish to ask the Mayor and Council for a 'Temporary Use Permit',

from our calendar, we will then be burdened to delay any current activity for the
forth coming year and also delay our supportive effort's to the community at
Treasurer large. We have also been informed that their is a process fee of$298. Due to
Jose Pedrosa our financial status, again we ask that you consider to waive this initial fee.
