Recommended motion:
That the Mayor and Common Council approve a resolution awarding a
purchase order to Halprin Supply Company for the purchase and
delivery of Survivair breathing apparatus to be used to equip the
eight new paramedic ambulances.

STAFF REPORT
The eight new paramedic ambulances ordered by the Fire Department require two self contained
breathing apparatus (SCBA) units per vehicle. Another two units are required for back-up
during repair or servicing.
Halprin Supply Company , the selected source vendor, has a special offer of providing a free
fiberglass wrapped high pressure cylinder for each SCBA unit purchased. This results in a
savings to the City of $8,727.75.
Staff recommends issuing a purchase order to Halprin for eighteen self-contained breathing
apparatus (SCBA) units, and eighteen fiberglass wrapped high pressure cylinders for each SCBA
unit. The total amount of the purchase is $47,285.01.
To qualify for the offer, a purchase order must be received by December 23, 1996.
