9578 , be approved; and the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be
authorized to advertise for bids .

CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
Plans for modification of traffic signals on Fifth
Street, at "G" Street, "F" Street and Sierra Way, have been
prepared, and the project is ready to be advertised for bids.
The project consists, in general , of installing pedestrian
signals (with audible indication) , and push buttons, replacing
traffic signal poles and installing mast arms.
The modifications at "G" Street and Sierra Way will
comprise the Basic Bid, with the upgrades at "F" Street included
in the bid documents as an Additive Alternate. The Additive
Alternate will be included in the contract-, if sufficient funds
are available .
Below is an estimate of the total project cost:
Construction Contract (Basic Bid) $ 78 , 400
Engineering & Inspection (W.O. #7053) 3 , 300
Sub-Total $ 81 , 700
Contingencies (10 . 20) ± 8 , 300
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 90 , 000
The estimated cost of the Additive Alternate is $15 , 000 .
All costs incurred for this project will be financed from
the $90 , 000 allocated under Account No. 126-369-5504-7053 .
We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization
granted to advertise for bids .
