PUBLIC SERVICES JUSTIFICATIONS:UNCLASSIFIED REQUESTED ACTION HIGHER ACTING CLASSIFICATION: from Solid Waste Manager (U), Range 4482, $4,913 /month to Acting Director of Public Services, Range 4541, $6,594 /month POSITION JUSTIFICATIONS The following are justifications for appointments to be reviewed by the Mayor and Common Council at the December 7, 1998, Council meeting. CLASSIFIED GENERAL FUND 4. Computer Operations Supervisor (Anderson Marcus B.) - Appointment MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS This is the second of the two positions budgeted for in FY 1998 -99 budget to assist MIS in catching up with the service demands created over recent years for technical support to the City departments. 5. Programmer (Public Safety) (Sepulveda. Cynthia) - Appointment (Provisional) MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS The Police Department has identified funding for an additional technical support position to speed up and assist in implementation of their numerous technology projects. This is a provisional appointment to this new position proposed for creation within the MIS reorganization. 6. Firelighter (Seleman. Jeffrey) - Salary Adjustment FIRE The incumbent's salary is being adjusted per Civil Service Rule 513.1. UNCLASSIFIED 1. Acting Director of Public Services (Merrill. Lunn C.) - Higher Acting Classificaiton (Step 1) PUBLIC SERVICES The recent resignation of the Director of Public Services has prompted the recommended action to approve the interim appointment of the incumbent as Acting Director. Mr. Merrill has the skills and abilities to be an effective manager who is familiar with the specific issues of the Public Services Department. 14 y � 2AJ
