STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT
Resolution authorizing an Annual Purchase Order for Gates hoses, hydraulic fittings and bearings
for the City's heavy equipment fleet.
BACKGROUND
Notices inviting bids for FY99/00 annual purchase of Gates hoses, hydraulic fittings and bearings,
Bid No. F00 -16, were sent to six (6) vendors and the San Bernardino Chamber of Commerce. One
(1) sealed bid was received. Kaman Industrial Technologies Corporation is a San Bernardino vendor
that distributes Gates products. Gates is a product manufacturer for hydraulic specialized
equipment. The Fleet Division, through extensive experience with hydraulic hose fabrication and
repair, has selected Gates products due to their long maintenance life and low cost. The City Fleet
has been standardized to use these Gates fittings. All refuse trucks, back hoes, aerial lifts, and
specialized equipment are equipped with numerous high pressure Gates hydraulic hoses and fittings.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds for this purchase order is contained in the Public Services Department, Fleet Division Fiscal
Year `99/00 budget..
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Mayor and Common Council adopt the resolution authorizing the
Purchasing Manager to issue an Annual Purchase Order to Kaman Industrial Technologies
Corporation for a "not to exceed" amount of $55,000 for Gates hoses, hydraulic fittings and
bearings in support of the City's heavy equipment fleet.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER BETWEEN THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO AND KAMAN INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION
FOR GATES HOSES, HYDRAULIC FITTINGS AND BEARINGS FOR THE CITY'S
HEAVY EQUIPMENT FLEET TO BE UTILIZED BY THE FLEET DIVISION OF
PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Kaman Industrial Technologies Corporation, a San Bernardino
vendor, specializes in "Gates" hoses, hydraulic fittings, and bearings which have been adopted as a
standard for the City's heavy equipment fleet. Pursuant to this determination, the Purchasing
Manager is hereby authorized and directed to issue an Annual Purchase Order to Kaman Industrial
Technologies Corporation in an amount not to exceed $55,000 as a result of Bid No. F- 00 -16.
SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above referenced is rescinded if a
purchase order is not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the Mayor and
