Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
9/14/15 Resolution 2014-346 adopted approving an additional three year contract
for security guard services from Platinum Security.
12/17/12 Resolution 2012-293 adopted approving a three year contract for security
guard services from Platinum Security.
Background:
The City of San Bernardino has contracted services from Platinum Security since July
2012. The agreement sets a schedule for services and an hourly rate. The contract
includes security services at multiple locations in the City and is funded by both the
Police General Fund and RDA Successor funds. The Police Department manages the
contract and has the ability to increase services during the fiscal year based on the
contracted hourly rate.
In both FY 2014/2015 and FY2015/2016 services were slightly increased based on
needs at City facilities. In FY2014/2015 the Purchase Order amount did not meet the
actual cost of services; it did not come to light that there was not enough funding on the
FY14/15 PO until it was too late to make any changes. The June 2015 invoice was paid

for with funds from the FY15/16 Purchase Order. The current Purchase Order in the
amount of $306,760 includes Police General Fund monies in the amount of
$108,000.00, and RDA Successor Funds in the amount of $198,760.
To ensure funding for the cost of additional services and payment of the FY14/15 final
months invoice, the Police Department is requesting an increase in the Police General
Fund portion of the Purchase Order to be a total of $130,000.00 for a new PO amount
of $328,760. Funds will be transferred from account 001-210-0078`5181 to cover the
PO increase.
This change does not amend or change the current contract in any way.
