Acceptance of the grant award is contingent upon the availability of funding for the required city match should the waiver of matching ORIGINAL funds not be approved. Synopsis of Previous Council Action: Resolution No. 96-290 ratified on September 16, 1996, authorizing the Police Department to apply for and accept the COPS More 96 grant program. Description) N/A Finance: Council Notes: Agenda Item No. Q 1 RESOLUTION NO.- 2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE 3 CHIEF OF POLICE TO FILE A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES (COPS) FOR 4 THE COPS MORE 98 GRANT PROGRAM. ACCEPTANCE OF THE GRANT AWARD IS CONTINGENT UPON THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDING FOR THE REQUIRED CITY 5 MATCH SHOULD THE WAIVER OF MATCHING FUNDS NOT BE APPROVED. 6 7 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 8 9 SECTION 1. The Chief of Police of the City of San Bernardino is hereby authorized 10 and directed to submit an application for a COPS More 98 grant with the Department of 11 12 Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services for additional support personnel and 13 computer technology. 14 15 SECTION 2.
