Also, Resolutions authorizing and directing the execution of a purchase agreement for a slope easement and temporary construction easement on two separate properties were adopted (Nos. 98-40 and 98- 41.) Recommended Motion: That the Acting Director of Public Works be authorized to advertise for bids for widening and paving of "E" Street and Kendall Drive from 36th Street to "H" Street per Plan No. 9780. Description) "E" Street/Kendall Drive: Widen and pave 36th Street to "H" Street Finance• , T Council Notes: f Agenda Item No. �� CYrY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT SUBJECT: Approval of plans and authorization to advertise for bids - widen and pave "E" Street and Kendall Drive from 36th Street to "H" Street per Plan No. 9780 BACKGROUND: Specifications are now complete and we are ready to advertise for bids for this project that consists of widening and paving "E" Street and Kendall Drive between 36th and "H" Streets and providing 4 lanes of traffic. Additionally, it closes the intersection of Arrowhead Avenue at "E" Street and Kendall Avenue and provides a turn-around and access from the east. This complies with the General Plan Circulation Element and will provide congestion relief in this portion of the city. Two of the four properties are yet to reach settlement through the City Attorney's office; however, settlement is expected within the two to three months required to advertise, accept bids and prepare the award. The contract will not be awarded until such time as all necessary easements are obtained. Listed below are the estimated costs based on the Engineer's estimate: Contract $311,060 Engineering and inspection 31,106 Subtotal $342,166 Contingencies (15%) $ 50,834 TOTAL $393,000 FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this service contract is found in the Gas Tax Fund under Account No. 126-369- 5504-7050 - Widening and paving of "E" Street and Kendall from 36th Street to "H" Street, with a total allocation of $393,000 based on the 1997/98 budget. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the specifications and authorization for the Acting Director of Public Works to begin advertising for bids on the above named project.
