STAFF REPORT
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO TO
EXECUTE A REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT
WITH SAN BERNARDINO UNIFIED SCHOOL
DISTRICT FOR YOUTH MENTORING SERVICES
AND LATE NIGHT HOOPS PROVIDED FOR FISCAL
YEAR 1996/97.
The City of San Bernardino and San Bernardino City Unified School District established a
partnership through the Mayor's Youth Task Force to provide Youth Mentoring and Late Night
Hoops since 1994. The City and the District have shared the costs of these programs since their
inception.
These programs were provided during the 1996/97 fiscal year. The agreement for this period
never went to the Mayor and Common Council and was never executed for reasons unknown.
This department has assumed from the Youth Task Force the responsibility for the execution of
this agreement and has coordinated with the school district, St. Bernardine Hospital, which now
provides Late-Night Hoops and City Finance Department to bring this matter to closure. The
school district is agreeable to providing $35,754 as its share of the program with this
Reimbursement Agreement.

5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

8 SECTION 1. The Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is hereby authorized and directed
9 to execute a Reimbursement Agreement with San Bernardino City Unified School District for Youth
10 Mentoring Services and Late Night Hoops provided for fiscal year 1996/97. A copy of said
11 Reimbursement Agreement is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by
12 reference as fully as though set forth at length.

1 REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT
2 This Reimbursement Agreement is made and executed the day of , 1998,
3 by and between the CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, a municipal corporation and charter city of the
4 State of California("City"), and the SAN BERNARDINO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
5 ("District").
6 WITNESSETH:
7 WHEREAS,the City and the District have previously identified a need to assist the young
8 people in our community to not become involved in drugs, crime, and gangs, and
9 WHEREAS,the City Youth Activity Programs(Late Night Hoops and Youth Monitoring)
10 are the programs that have been adopted to help with this process, and
11 WHEREAS,District desired to provide a share of the funding necessary for these programs
12 and to have the City administer these programs,
13 NOW, THEREFORE,the parties hereto agree as follows:
14 1. City agreed to administer funding for the Late Night Hoops and Youth Monitoring
15 programs which included funding and in-kind contributions by City and District for the period from
16 May 21, 1997 through June 30, 1997.
17 2. City having met its obligations as previously agreed to, District agrees to reimburse
18 City in the amount of$35,754.00 within thirty (30) days of receipt of invoice.
19 3. Any notices to be given from one party to the other under this Reimbursement
20 Agreement shall be deposited with the United States Postal Service,postage prepaid and addressed
21 as follows:
