Nutrition Program for the period July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE
DIRECTOR OF PARKS, RECREATION
AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR AND ACCEPT
A GRANT FROM DEPARTMENT OF AGING
AND ADULT SERVICES FOR THE SENIOR
NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR THE PERIOD OF
SEPTEMBER 1, 1998 THROUGH JUNE 30, 1999.
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has provided nutrition services to
seniors for over 20 years. During Fiscal Year 1997/98, the Senior Nutrition Program served
83,792 total meals for a daily average of 327 meals to eight (8) nutrition sites.
The Senior Nutrition Program is financially supported by a combination of grants, donations and
USDA reimbursements, allowing for no financial impact upon the city's general fund. The
1998/99 Senior Nutrition budget is $405,997.
Every four years the Department of Aging and Adult Services requires a Request for Proposal
(RFP). This lengthy and detailed proposal will be submitted by May 15, 1998 to the
Department of Aging and Adult Services for their evaluation and decision. Due to the detail
required in this proposal, the start of the new grant has been moved back to September 1 to
allow adequate time for the applicants to prepare their documents. The current contract will be
extended to cover the interim between the existing and new contract as allowed for in the
agreement. The County Department of Aging and Adult Services has already received approval
from the California Department of Aging for these extensions.

6 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
7 SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS :
8 SECTION 1. The Director of Parks, Recreation and Community
9 Services Department of the Z:.ty of San Bernardino is hereby
10 authorized and directed to submit an application to accept on
11 behalf of City a grant from San Bernardino County Department of
12 Aging and Adult Se=lzes for :he Senior Nutrition Program for the
