Recommended motion:
That the transfer of $172 , 500 , f__-on Account I30. 129-367-5504-7064 ,
"Widen Rialto Avenue Bridge over Est Twin Creek, " to Account No.
129-367-5504-7088 , "Improvement of tirden Avenue, North of Pacific
Street, " be approved.

STAFF REPORT
The development of a soccer complex at Patton Park North
was recently approved by the Community Development Commission.
Funds were included in the original Construction Cost Budget to
finance the improvement of the east side of Arden Avenue , as a
part of this complex. However; these funds were deleted from the
approved budget.
The lack of street improvements along Arden Avenue would
give an unfinished appearance to the new soccer complex. Also,
the improvements could be installed as a part of this complex for
less cost, than at a later date as a separate project.
An amount of $300 , 000 has been allocated in the 1996/97
1/2-Cent Sales & Road Tax Budget, under Account No. 129-367-5504--
7064 , to finance the cost of widening the Rialto Avenue Bridge
over the East Twin Creek Channel. We are in the process of
selecting a. consulting engineer to prepare the construction plans
and special provisions . Preparation of the plans, and securing
the required environmental clearance and permits will extend over
the majority of this fiscal year.
Our preliminary estimate of cost for installing curb and
gutter, sidewalk, street lights and fill-in pavement is $172 , 500 .
We recommend that the transfer of $172 , 500 , from the
amount allocated for widening the Rialto Avenue Bridge to Arden
Avenue improvements , be approved.
Supplemental funds to finance the cost for widening the
Rialto Avenue Bridge can be provided in the 1997/98 Budget, to
replace the funds transferred to finance the cost of improving
Arden Avenue.
