Description) Traffic Sign is Vi1toria Avenue & Citrus Street Finance , _ Council Notes: Tables . 75-0262 Agenda Item No. s CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Numerous concerns have been expressed relative to the traffic problems on Victoria Avenue, due to the large volume of vehicles that travel to and from the Indian Bingo and Casino complex. These concerns have been reviewed by the City ' s Traffic Safety Committee. The committee concurred with Traffic Engi- neering staff' s recommendation that traffic signals be installed at Citrus Street to alleviate this situation. A request was submitted to the - San Manuel Tribe of Mission Indians to consider financing the cost of these traffic signals, since the majority of traffic on Victoria Avenue is generated by the gaming facilities on the reservation. The Tribal Chairman appeared to be receptive to this request, but a commitment to finance the cost has not been received at this time. In view of the concern of residents in the neighborhood, relative to traffic, we recommend that the expenditure of $5 ,000 from the Indian Bingo Fund be approved, to allow prepration of the necessary plans and special provisions to be commenced before a commitment is received from the Indian Tribe. 8-5-96 75-0264
