for bids .

STAFF REPORT
Bids for drilling two water wells and appurtenant
facilities at the San Bernardino Trade Center and International
Airport were opened at 2 : 00 p.m. , Tuesday, 7-30-96 .
A total of 4 bids were received, ranging from $235 , 132 . 00
to $341 , 332 . 00 . The low bid of $235 , 132 . 00 is 56 . 9% under the
Engineer' s Estimate of $546 , 000 .
Below is an estimate of the total project cost, based
upon the actual low bid price:
Construction Contract $ 235 , 132
Engineering & Inspection (W.O. #1993) 14 , 000
Sub-Total $ 249 , 132
Contingencies (15%) ± 37 , 868
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 287 , 000
All costs incurred for the project will be charged to
Account No. 242-362-5504-1993 , and billed to the grant from the
Federal Economic Development Administration and Inland Valley De-
velopment Agency.
No City funds will be used to finance any portion of this
project.
The following two additional projects will also have to
be done in order to complete these well facilities :

Installation of pipe fitting at both wells $ 20 , 000
Installation of pump motors at both wells 130 , 000
TOTAL $ 150 , 000
We recommend that a contract be awarded to the low
bidder.
