CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
AND CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, SAN
BERNARDINO PROVIDING FOR THE COOPERATIVE
USES OF THE UNIVERSITY'S SWIMMING POOL
AND THE CITY' S FISCALINI FIELD.
The City and California State University, San Bernardino have
worked cooperatively since 1983 to accommodate facility needs
to meet the University' s and the public' s interest . The City
has been provided the use of the University' s swimming pool
for 10 weeks during the summer to operate a public recreation
swimming program. The University has utilized Fiscalini Field
as its home site for the men' s baseball team for approximately
two dozen home games and practices .
f For the past two years these uses have been arranged through
a use of facilities agreement approved by Resolution 92-260 .
This agreement expired at the end of this summer. The use
agreement formalizes arrangements and conditions of use and
provides for respective needs through 1996 .
Approval is recommended.
Justification for Placement on the Supplemental Agenda
The Agreement for Cooperative uses of California State
University and City facilities has just this date been
completed. The agreement authorizes use of Fiscalini Field by
the California State Baseball teams and their season begins in
February. Therefore, it is imperative that the agreement be
reviewed and approved at the February 6, 1995 meeting of the
Mayor and Common Council .
