Recommended motion:
That the request for permission to construct a handicap ramp
within the City sidewalk area, at 290 North "D" Street, be
approved in principle; and the City Attorney be directed to
prepare the standard form License Agreement to authorize the
requested encroachment within the street right-of-way.

STAFF REPORT
A request was submitted by Mr. D. M. Bergerson, Inc. , on
behalf of First Interstate Bank, by letter dated January 20 ,
1993, for authorization to construct a handicap ramp in the
existing 18 ' Public sidewalk at 290 North "D" Street. It is
proposed to install a handicap ramp 4 ' - 0" in width and 191 - 0"
in length.
The request to construct a handicap ramp at this location
is to achieve compliance with A.D.A. Section (s) 4 . 1 . 3 (7) , (8)
and 4 . 13 , 4 . 14 and Title 24 , Section 3301 .
The proposed handicap ramp within the public right-of-way
will reduce the existing sidewalk from 18 ' to 14 ' , which is in
excess of the City' s standard 6 ' sidewalk.
Since the installation of the handicap ramp in the public
right--of-wav on "D" Street would not be an obstacle to pedestri-
ans, we recommend that the request be granted.
The applicant has paid the prescribed $500. 00 administra-
tive fee to cover processing costs.

Dear Mr. Kim:
Request your approval for encroachment permit to place a new access ramp on
City sidewalk at referenced property to allow compliance with A. D. A.
section(s) 4.1.3(7), (8) 4.13, 4.14, and Title 24, section 3301.
In support of this request, we respectfully submit enclosed drawings indicating a
proposed access ramp with a 4' wide infringement on existing city sidewalk, 18
feet wide.
The design of the new access ramp has been approved by Vanir Development
Company, Owner of the Building.
