Description) Im rovement of Rancho Avenue (East Side) , South of Santa Fe Railway Finance: :ouncil Notes: 5-0262 Agenda Item No._ rITY OF SAN BERK .RDINO - REQUEST i JR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Santa Fe Railway has secured approval to operate a temporary intermodal facility, on the parcel east of Rancho Avenue and south of the railway tracks. Installation of normal street improvements was not required as a condition of approval, since this is a temporary use. Councilman Ralph Hernandez has convinced Mr. Norm Johnson, owner of the parcel , to donate the concrete and aggregate base needed for installation of curb and gutter, and fill-in street paving. Santa Fe has provided the necessary plans for these improvements, at their cost. Below is an estimate of the total project cost, not including the concrete and aggregate base which will be donated. Construction Contract $ 22,974 Construction Inspection (W.O. #7003) 1 ,500 Sub-Total $ 24 , 474 Contingencies (15%) ± 3 ,526 TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 28 , 000 The cost of the donated materials will be as follows: Portland Cement Concrete - 54 C.Y. @ $49 $ 2 , 646 Aggregate Base - 333 Tons at $7 2 ,331 TOTAL COST OF DONATED MATERIALS $ 4 , 977 It is recommended that $28 ,000 be transferred from the available balance for the improvement of Mill Street (south side) , west of Meridian Avenue, to provide the necessary funds to cover the costs that will be incurred for the improvement of Rancho Avenue. We recommend that the transfer of $28 , 000 be approved; the plans approved, and authorization granted to advertise for bids. 5-2-95 75-0264
