This vacancy resulted from attrition in the department. In order to ensure that the Fire Maintenance Shop is properly staffed and to minimize overtime expenditures, it is critical that this position be filled. ;a a Mr. Dyke has been employed as a Fire Equipment Mechanic I for the past year and has successfully completed the criteria set forth for a Fire Equipment Mechanic II. We request to start Mr. Dyke at Step 4 in this new class in order to give him just over a 5% increase from his current salary as a Mechanic I. Specifically, designed to coordinate the complex day-to-day operations of workers' compensation and general liability activities between the E individual City departments, Human Resources/Risk Management and the City's contracted Third Party Claims Administrators (TPA),the Administrative Claims Specialist Q position is critical to the City's Risk Management effort. In addition, it is vital for this position to initiate, process, and follow-up on City claims for damage; a demanding and technical subrogation process. The subrogation process during this fiscal year has recovered over$170,000 in City losses and it is anticipated to total more than $300,000 by June 30, 2016. Without, this full time position, this revenue process will be compromised. Other essential dunes and responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Organizes Department of Defense(DOT) Drug Testing i� �C e� 9r50 • Coordinates return-to-work and absentee Information with Payroll • Maintains operational loss control data • Assists with inquiries from claimants,witnesses, attorneys and others • Facilitates City claim distribution to workers' compensation and general liability TPAs • Tracks claim activity by causes to identify loss trends Genevieve started working at the City in early 2014 as a CSUSB intern and quickly advanced to a•Human Resources Provisional Technician. She graduated from CSUSS in March 2015 with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration study in o Human Resources. Genevieve competed for the Administrative Claims Specialist N position in an open,recruitment and through a series of interviews was selected as the C a best and highest rated applicant.
