STAFF REPORT
The Soap Box Derby is a youth racing program which has run
nationally since 1934 . World championship finals are held each
August at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio.
The City of San Bernardino has held a franchise in the past, the
last known year being 1990. Since that time, drivers from our City
have competed in the Ventura County race.
The Rediscover San Bernardino Committee has applied for and
obtained a franchise which includes the following communities: San
Bernardino County, Riverside County and Orange County. The
Rediscover San Bernardino Race is scheduled to run on July 1 and
July 2 , 1995 on Little Mountain Drive at Kendall Boulevard. The
local champion from each of the stock car, kit car and master
division races will be sent to Akron, Ohio to compete for
scholarships, merchandize prizes and to represent our community.
There is no cost to the General Fund for this event. The Committee
has raised the entrance fee through community based donations and
all insurance requirements are being met.
Approval of the attached license agreement between the Rediscover
San Bernardino Committee and the parent organization, International
Soap Box Derby, Inc. " a non-profit organization, for conduct of
this event is recommended.

Dear Derby Director:
Enclosed is your 1995 All-American Soap Box Derby License Agreement. It is an
important document to your local, so you should read it and make sure it is accurate and that
you understand the obligations which your local organization assumes in entering into this
agreement. Then you should sign where indicated for the Derby Director and have your
signature witnessed by two different individuals who will sign by the lines with the X.
Send BOTH COPIES of the signed agreement to the All-American along with your
license fee as indicated on the enclosed invoice by May 1, 1995. Upon receipt of your signed
License Agreement and license fee, WE WILL COUNTERSIGN THE CONTRACTS AND
RETURN ONE COPY TO YOU. I must EMPHASIZE the need to follow deadline dates for
payment of fees as well as forms due this office.
I need to remind you that there will be a $10.00 fee if you have to add additional insured
to your policy after we issue it, with a two week notice in writing of any changes.
The introduction of the Stock Division has opened the doors for the opportunity to
increase the total numbers in your area. The All-American hopes with the new Super Stock
Division, it will increase numbers even more for 1995.
Again, we want to express the importance of our safety records at the local level and the
importance it plays with our current insurance carrier. Please look over your Derby Director's
manual and be sure to follow up on all the safety precautions that are mentioned. The only way
we can keep our record clean is to take special attention to possible problem areas.
