Recommended motion:
That the position of Human Relations Coordinator be established in
the office of Affirmative Action at Range 1303, Step 2 on a
temporary basis , not-to-exceed eight (8) months and that the
appointment of Laura Cannis to the position be approved, effective
November 16, 1993

STAFF REPORT
On September 23 , 1993 , Ordinance No. MC-886 which established a
Human Relations Commission was approved.
As part of the budget process, funds were approved and allocated
for the position of Human Relations Coordinator to assist the
Commission in carrying out its duties.
After reviewing the requirements that will be placed on the
position, it is recommended that the position be established at
this time on a temporary, part time basis at a salary equivalent to
the position of Senior Affairs Coordinator. An interview of six
(6) applicants was conducted and Laura Cannis was selected for the
position.
This action creates the position as part time, temporary and
authorizes the appointment of Laura Cannis. Near the end of the 8-
month period, a decision will be made and a recommendation will be
brought forward to the Mayor and Council as to whether this
position should remain temporary or become a full time permanent
position.
