TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council

RE: Agenda Item for Mayor and Council Meeting of November
15, 1993 - Change in Council Meeting dates for January
1994
I propose that the Council meetings in January 1994 be moved to
the second and fourth Mondays (January 10 and 24 , respectively)
instead of the normal first and third Mondays.
There are five Mondays in January. Since the first regular
meeting in January would fall on January 3rd, which is the first
day back after the holidays, and the second meeting would fall on
a holiday (Martin Luther King, Jr. ) and would mean rescheduling
that meeting, I suggest that the meetings take place on the
second and fourth Mondays.
If you approve of this change, deadlines for submitting Council
agenda items would be changed with Tuesday, December 14 , 1993 ,
being the deadline for departments to submit agenda items
requiring the City Attorney' s approval for the first meeting in
January and Tuesday, December 21, being the deadline to submit
regular agenda items for the first meeting in January. This
would allow for sufficient time to prepare the agenda,
particularly in view of the holiday schedule.
Both the City Administrator and City Attorney concur with the
proposed changes.
