STAFF REPORT
On August 21, 1995, authorization was granted to proceed with the proposed
vacation of a portion of Third Street, lying between Mt. Vernon Ave. and
Viaduct Boulevard, and Street Vacation Plan Map No. 9340 was approved.
All of the affected City Departments and Public Utility Companies were notified
of the proposed vacation on 9-11-95, with a reply due by 9-30-95. A summary of
the responses received is attached for your reference.
Only one request for the reservation of an easement for existing facilities was
received from the City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department. The Water
Department has requested to reserve an easement for their existing facilities
over the entire portion of the street that is proposed to be vacated.
All of the adjoining property owners will be notified of the public hearing by
mail , the street will be posted, and the Resolution of Intention will be
published twice in the Sun Newspaper, with the first publication being at least
15 days prior to the public hearing.
On 09-27-95, a Notice of Exemption was filed with the San Bernardino County
Board of Supervisors, and a finding of consistency with the General Plan was
made.
The second half of the required $1,000.00 administrative fee has been received
from the petitioner of the proposed vacation.
We recommend that the attached Resolution of Intention be adopted to set the
public hearing for Monday, August 5, 1996, at 10:00 a.m.
