03-04-96 - Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise
for bids.
05-06-96 - Authorization to initiate proceedings for installation
of fill-in sidewalk on Northpark Boulevard continued to
5-20-96 .
05-20-96 - Authorization to initiate proceedings tabled.
Recommended motion:
1. That the transfer of $6,575, from Acct.#126-000-3405, "Undesignated
Reserve, " to Acct. #126-369-5504-7034, "Traffic Signals - Northpark Blvd.
& Coyote Dr. , " be approved.
AND
2. That Change Order No. 1 to the contract for the installation of Traffic
Signals at Northpark Blvd. & Coyote Dr. , in accordance with Plan No. 9419,
be approved; to compensate the Contractor for 540 L.F. of sidewalk along
Northpark Blvd. , at an estimated increase to the contract price of
$11 ,375.00, from $126,856.50 to $138 ,231.50.

STAFF REPORT
A contract has been awarded for installation of traffic
signals at Northpark Boulevard and Coyote Drive. Pedestrian
signals and crosswalks will be installed by this project.
There is a vacant lot on the south side of Northpark
Boulevard, west of Coyote Drive. Sidewalk has not been installed
along the approximate 450 foot frontage of this vacant lot. Also,
sidewalk is missing adjacent to two single family lots that back
up to Northpark Boulevard. The length of these two back-up lots
is about 90 feet.
Chapter 12 . 92 SBMC gives authorization for the City to
notify the owner to install sidewalk, since one-half of the block
has sidewalk. Authorization to initiate proceedings to order
sidewalk installed was tabled at the Council meeting of 5-20-96 .
The property owner has agreed to pay 1/2 of the cost of
installing sidewalk adjacent to the vacant parcel. The other one-
half, plus the 90 feet of back-up frontage, will have to be paid
by the City.
Hovey Electric, the Contractor for installation of traffic
signals at Northpark Boulevard and Coyote Drive, has submitted a
price quote for installing about 540 linear feet of sidewalk.
Below is a tabulation of the cost based upon this price quote.

The property owner will pay one-half of the cost for in-
stalling sidewalk and a driveway approach, estimated at $4 , 800 .
The remaining $6 ,575 will need to be financed by the City.
It is recommended that the transfer of $6 , 575 , from Account
No. 126-000-3405 , "Undesignated Reserve, " to Account No. 126-369-
5504-7034 , "Traffic Signals - Northpark Boulevard & Coyote Drive, "
be approved to provide the necessary supplemental funding to
finance this extra work.
