' CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
The Vehicle Replacement Fund provides for the replacement of one (1) 14' rotary deck mower
and two (2) 72" rotary mowers. The existing mowers are ten (10) years old and have become
an economic burden to maintain and have exhausted their useful life. This equipment is essential
for the maintenance of City parks and recreation areas.
Notice inviting bids for mowers, Bid No. 96-19, were sent to 15 vendors; five sealed bids were
received and were opened on January 17, 1996.

**Did not bid both types of mowers as specified. Only 72" rotary available.
The low bidder, Bob Hicks Turf Equipment Co.is non-responsive. They bid on a 10'6" 3-Deck
mower and not the 14' Deck called for in the specifications (the Deck is the overall width of the
mower). The second lowest bidder, CR Jaeschke, Inc. is the Excel Hustler distributor for
Southern California and met or exceeded all items called for in the specifications.
It is recommended that the Mayor and Common Council authorize the purchasing agent to issue
a purchase order in the amount of $61,729.17 to CR Jaeschke, Inc. to purchase one (1) 14'
rotary deck mower and two (2) 72" rotary mowers.
