D Observed on the fourth Sunday of each July, Parents' Day stimulates education and awareness of issues surrounding parenting, family challenges and problems. While the day itself cannot solve problems or offer solutions, it is hoped that it will stimulate positive dialogue, activities and solutions that lead to responsible parenting, use of effective parenting skills and caring of children. Observing Parents' Day also provides an opportunity to honor those who are making a difference in the lives of families. Nationwide organizations and communities are encouraged to pay tribute to outstanding parents, leaders, child care providers, groups and agencies that are helping to perpetuate responsible parenting. On a national level, the National Parents' Day Coalition honors and recognizes those who have had national impact through their programs and services and who are pioneering achievements in parenting.
