Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
June 1995 - Council approved the elimination of the public swimming program at
Cal State as part of the 1995-96 budget reductions.
Recommended Motion:
That $8,400 be appropriated to operate a summer public swim program at Cal State University.

STAFF REPORT
The City has operated Cal State Swimming Pool for public recreational
swimming since 1983. In 1995, this service was discontinued as part of the cost
saving measures approved by Council to balance the 1995-96 budget.
In the past, Cal State has attracted about 4,000 youth and adult swimmers
during the 10 week program. A revenue of approximately $2,000 was realized
through admission fees.
The pool is proposed for the standard operational schedule of Monday through
Saturday, 1 :00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Pending approval, the pool would be expected to
be opened by July 4th.
