09-19-94 -- Resolution No. 94-284 adopted awarding a contract
for the low bid price of $160 , 000 . 00 .

Recommended Motion:
That Change Order No. Two, to the contract with Gosney Construc-
tion for construction of curb and gutter, and sidewalk, at
various locations, in accordance with Plan No. 9151 , be approved;
to authorize the preparation of subgrade and construction of
approximately 7 ,000 sq. ft. of sidewalk on Highland Avenue (north
side) , adjacent to the Wal-Mart Shopping Complex, in accordance
with Plan No. 8919 , at an estimated increase in the contract
price of $13 , 350 . 00 , from $320 , 000 . 00 to $333 ,350 . 00

STAFF REPORT
Approval of Contract Change Order No. 2
Construction of Curb & Gutter, Sidewalk
at Various Locations
The Development Agreement with the Wal-Mart Shopping Complex
provides that the required street improvements along Highland
Avenue will be installed by the City. A contract was awarded for
these improvements, but the sidewalk was deleted in order to
allow the underground utility facilities to be installed.
All work in connection with the installation of conduit and
structures has been completed, and the sidewalk can now be
installed.
The City has a contract with Gosney Construction for the con-
struction of curb and gutter, and sidewalk, at locations where
these damaged items have been removed by City forces . Gosney
Construction has agreed to install the estimated quantity of
7 ,000 square feet of sidewalk on the north side of Highland
Avenue, generally between Piedmont Drive and Boulder Avenue, at
the contract unit price of $1 . 55/sq. ft. , plus $2 ,500 for sub-
grade preparation. We have reviewed this price quote and feel
that it is fair and reasonable.
Authorization was granted at the Council meeting of 5-6-96 for
the expenditure of $20 , 000 from Account No. 126--000-3405 ,
"Undesignated Reserve, " to finance one-half of the cost for this
sidewalk.
We recommend that contract Change Order No. Two be approved.
