STAFF REPORT
One of the conditions of approval for the development of Tract No. 15642 in the
Verdemont area of the City was a requirement for the realignment of a portion of
Pine Avenue lying between Kendall Drive and Irvington Avenue.
Construction of the "new" realigned portion of Pine Avenue has been completed
and is now open for public use. The realigned portion of the street was
dedicated and inadvertently renamed as "NEW PINE AVENUE" on the official
recorded Map of Tract No. 15642.
The work involved for the realignment of the street included the construction of
a cul-de-sac and new terminus of the "old" Pine Avenue just south of the
intersection of the "new" Pine Avenue with Irvington Avenue. Owners and
residents of properties lying east of this section of the "old" Pine Avenue may
continue to access their properties off of this section of the "old" Pine
Avenue.
To avoid confusion for both emergency services and the public, the section of
the "old" Pine Avenue, lying between Kendall Drive and Irvington Avenue is being
renamed.
There are no addresses assigned to "Pine Avenue" along this portion of the
street, so no address changes will be necessary as a result of the requested
name change.
Due to the identity of the area and the close proximity to both "Bailey Creek"
and nearby "Bailey Canyon", we recommend renaming this section of "old" Pine
Avenue to "BAILEY COURT".
All affected City departments and outside agencies will be notified of the
proposed street name change upon adoption of the final Resolution ordering the
name change.
Staff hereby recommends that authorization to proceed with the proposed street
name change be granted.
