Synopsis of Previous Council action:
02-19-96 - Installation of Traffic Signals and Channelization at
Mt. Vernon Avenue and 21st Street, approved in concept,
and direction given to present alternate means of
financing.
Recommended motion:
1 . That the allocation of $120 , 000 , from the 1996/97 Community
Development Block Grant Fund Program, for installation of
Traffic Signals and Channelization at Mt. Vernon Avenue and
21st Street, be approved.
OR
2 . That the expenditure of :$120 , 000 , from Account No. 129--000-
3405 , "Undesignated Balance, " for the installation of Traffic
Signals and Channelization at Ht. Vernon Avenue and 21st
Street, be approved.

STAFF REPORT
At the Council meeting of 2-19-96 , the installation of
traffic signals and channelization at the intersection of Mt.
Vernon Avenue and 21st Street was approved in concept, and the
Director of Public Works/City Engineer was directed to present
alternate means of financing for consideration.
Two (2) alternate motions are presented for review by the
Mayor and Council.
It appears that the installation of traffic signals at
Mt. Vernon avenue and 21st Street will be an eligible expenditure
of Community Development Block Grant Funds . Therefore, the First
Alternate is to approve the allocation of $120 , 000 . 00 , from the
1996/97 Community Development Block Grant Program, for the
installation of traffic signals at Mt. Vernon Avenue and 21st
Street.
The Second Alternate is to approve the expenditure of
$120 , 000 . 00 , from the "Undesignated Balance, " for 1/2� Sales Tax
Fund, Account No. 129-000-3405 , for Traffic Signals at Mt. Vernon
Avenue and 21st Street.
