Synopsis of Previous Council action:
3/6/96 -- Ways and Means Committee recommended approval of civic
and promotion funding in the amount of $5 , 000 for the
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Recommended motion:
That the recommendation of the Ways and Means Committee to allocate
$5 , 000 in FY 95/96 civic and promotion funds to the Hispanic Chamber
of Commerce be approved; and that the City Administrator be directed
to execute an agreement with said Chamber providing for use of said
funds for start up costs to re-establish the Chamber activities.

Honorable members, Ways and Means Committee:
The proposed Request for funding Assistance of$5,000.00 will support the revitalization of the Inland
Empire Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the oldest Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the State of
California. This revitalization will include, but not be limited to the following events to be held during
this 1996 calendar year.
0 The Chamber of Commerce will host a"Grand Opening" in their new office location
0 A strategic planning seminar which will be lead by a highly experienced facilitator,Maurice Calderon
0 A Business EXPO in partnership with Cal State San Bernardino
0 A legislative day where government leaders representing County, State, and Federal Governments will
update the community of current status.
0 We are taking the lead in the Latino Internet segment of triple"E",Enterprise for Economic
Excellence
0 We are partnering with the San Bernardino County Health Department for a Health EXPO
0 Assemblyman Joe Baca will host a small business conference for us.
0 We are participating in the San Bernardino Community College's mentoring program
0 We are partnering with Cal State San Bernardino to support the Inland Empire
0 Edison will partner with us to present a Deregulation Update Seminar
0 San Bernardino County Central Credit Union will host a financial seminar
0 Senator Alaya's office has offered to partner an event
0 Libieria Del Pueblo has offered to partner an event
