STAFF REPORT
The 1995/96 budget provides for the purchase of four (4) MDT' s and
four (4) mobile radios as follows :
Four (4) Motorola 800 MHz, C-7, Spectra mobile radios and four (4)
Motorola, 9100-T MDT' s with RF/modem; reference Bid F-96-14 . Total
purchase price is $30, 507 . 88 .
Under the agreement of the Clinton Grant, the City of San
Bernardino is to fully provide equipment for the seventeen (17)
Grant officers .
Notices inviting bids for the various equipment, Bid No. F-96-14 ,
were published locally and bid packages were mailed to twenty-four
(24) vendors of which eight (8) responded. Seven (7) vendors
indicated no bid. The only bid was from Motorola. Motorola is the
sole source for 800 MHz equipment . As advertised, sealed bids were
opened on 10-31-95 .
Purchasing staff have evaluated the bid on unit cost and
conformance to the bid specifications . Based on this evaluation,
staff are recommending a purchase order be approved to Motorola for
the purchase of four (4) MDT' s and four (4) mobile radios .
