STAFF REPORT
Bids for repair of storm damage to Alabama Box Culvert at
City Creek were opened at 2 : 00 p.m. , 9-26-95 . A total of 5 bids
were received, ranging from $45 , 300 to $73 , 900 . The low bid of
$45 ,300 is 6 . 7% below the Engineer ' s Estimate of $48 , 535 .
Below is the total estimated project cost, based on the
actual low bid price.
Construction Contract $ 45 , 300
Engineering & Inspection (W.O. 5004) 4 , 855
Sub-Total $ 50 , 155
Contingencies (15%) ± 7 , 545
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 57 , 700
All costs incurred for this project will be charged to
Account No. 126-369-5504-5004 . Since this damage was caused by a
declared emergency, the majority of the cost will be reimbursable
from the Federal Emergency Management Administration and State
Office of Emergency Services .
We recommend that a contract be awarded for the low bid
price.
URGENCY CLAUSE:
The rainy season will commence in approximately 6 weeks, and it
is vital that these repairs be made prior to a major storm. To
protect from further damage or loss of the improvements which
remain, the work must be completed as soon as possible.
