Addition of Orange Show Road
and 21st Street to
50/50 Landscape Program
Ordinance No. MC--786 was adopted to authorize a program for
installation of landscaping adjacent to certain streets. Under
this program, the cost of installing landscaping and irrigation
facilities is equally borne by the property owner and City.
The streets included in this program were listed on Exhibit "I"
to Resolution No. 91-185 , establishing a procedure for this pro-
gram.
It is recommended that this resolution be amended to include
Orange Show Road and 21st Street. A project has been established
to extend Orange Show Road, from Arrowhead Avenue to Tippecanoe
Avenue. Upon completion of this project, Orange Show Road will
serve as a major east--west transportation corridor. Installing
landscaping along this street would provide considerable benefit.
(W Several business owners on 21st Street have expressed an interest
in having landscaping installed along their frontages. Inclusion
of 21st Street would make them eligible to participate in this
program.
We recommend that Orange Show Road and 21st Street be added to
the list of eligible streets.
