"D" Street. (#4178) Current Business Registration Certificate: Not Applicable Financial Impact: Striping will be paid for out of account 216-160-8016-5044 which was approved for City Street striping Motion: Adopt the Resolution. Synopsis of Previous Council Action: None Background: The San Bernardino Police Department has requested that the Council consider permitting diagonal parking along the west side "D" Street, in front of the Police Station building at 710 N. "D" Street. The diagonal parking is proposed from 7th Street to 8th Street. Once properly striped, it is anticipated that the angled parking will add additional on-street parking spaces and better accommodate visitors by making it easier to pull in and out of the parking stalls. The Engineering Division has determined that "D" Street is wide enough to accommodate the requested diagonal parking. "D" Street currently has two southbound through lanes with low traffic volumes . Implementing the diagonal parking will eliminate the no. 2 southbound lane (see attached Exhibit "A" showing proposed diagonal parking and striping). The proposed parking configuration is unlikely to affect southbound through traffic on "D" Street. Once the concept is approved, it will take approximately two weeks to complete work.
