STAFF REPORT
Some concerns have been expressed in the past over the
traffic controls at the intersection of University Parkway and
Northpark Boulevard . Traffic is presently stopped on 3 approaches ,
with vehicles entering San Bernardino State University allowed to
flow freely through the intersection .
A project is being formulated for installation of traffic
signals at this intersection . We anticipate that these signals
will be in operation by 12 -31-88 .
At their meeting of 2- 10-88 , the Traffic Safety Advisory
Committee reviewed the controls at this intersection . Warrants
for traffic signals are satisfied , which automatically includes
a 4-way stop . There were no reported accidents during 1986 and
1987 .
Recent multi -family developments in this area have
resulted in increased traffic volumes on Northpark Boulevard .
The current distribution of traffic entering this intersection
accentuates the need for additional controls .
After reviewing the report presented by the Traffic
Engineering Section , the Committee recommended that a 4-way stop
be approved .

2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO . 2482 ENTITLED IN PART , "A RESOLUTION . . DESIGNATING
3 CERTAIN STREET INTERSECTIONS WHERE A STOP IS REQUIRED . . " ; AND
AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF A STOP SIGN ON UNIVERSITY PARKWAY
4 AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH NORTHPARK BOULEVARD .
5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS :

SECTION 1 . Resolution No . 2482 , which designates certain

street intersections where a stop is required , Section One is
8
9 amended by adding thereto Subsection ( 35 . 1 ) to read as follows :
" ( 35 . 1 ) For the purpose of stopping traffic entering

11 Northpark Boulevard at its intersection with the following
streets :

University Parkway"

15 adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
