Recommended motion:
1 . That the report on the amended actual final contract
price , for the construction of sidewalk fill -in on
Mt . Vernon Avenue , from Union Street to 21st Street ,
in accordance with Plan No . 7214 , be accepted and
filed .

STAFF REPORT
Subsequent to the preparation of the report on the
approval and acceptance of the work under this project , information
has become available requiring an amendment to the actual final
contract price .
Field measurements of the quantities actually constructed
lower the amount of sidewalk fill -in from the estimated amount in
the bid documents of 7 ,000 sq . ft . to 6 ,364 . 75 sq . ft . , and
increase the sidewalk replacement from 196 sq . ft . to 250 . 50 sq . ft .
The net difference is a reduction in the contract price of $934 . 48 ,
from $18 ,480 . 00 to $17 ,545 . 52 .
Our Construction Inspector on this project meticulously
measured more than 83 construction areas spread out over the 3
miles in the project , but was holding this information awaiting
the final acceptance inspection . However , during the final in-
spection , the Inspector was absent due to a family emergency ,
and the Contractor was unaware that a quantity lesser than the
contract quantities had. been constructed . The Inspector ' s
measurements became available after the agenda item approving
and accepting the work was prepared .
We recommend that the report on the actual final contract
price be accepted and filed .
