between "I" Street and "J" Street be approved and that the City Engineer and the City Clerk
are authorized to proceed.

STAFF REPORT
This office received a request from the Redevelopment Agency, to vacate portions
of Main Street and Broadway Street, between "I" Street and "J" Street,
specifically those portions of Main Street and Broadway Street adjacent to the
Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad right of way.
Therequest is a result of an objective of the Central City South assessment
district and overlay zone, to install a Railroad Crossing at "F" Street, South of
Rialto Avenue. The Railroad had requested, in exchange for installing said
crossing, that the above mentioned portions of Broadway Street and Main Street be
vacated.
Broadway Street and Main Street are 20 foot wide streets. There is a mixture of
commercial and residential property along these streets, however none of the
developed properties front on either one of these street, and there appears to be
little traffic flow on either street. The railoroad crossings at both streets
are unprotected and have limited view, and the crossings at both locations are
very poorly maintained.
