Description) CDBG DEMOLITION Finance: Council Notes: w. CITY OF SAN BERNARDWO - REQUhST FOR COUNCIL AC-PION STAFF REPORT On January 27, 1988, staff received a request from Annie Ramos, Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services regarding demolition assistance for property located at 2477 East Pacific Avenue (Patton Park) . The residential structure is unfit for habitation and it would not be cost effective to attempt renova- tion as originally planned. The structure has created a blighting influence in the surrounding area, is a hazard to public safety, and attracts vandals and trespassers. As a City-owned structure, the situation could expose the City to significant liability if left in its present condition. On February 11, 1988, the Community Development Citizen Advisory Committee considered the request submitted by Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and took action recommending to the Mayor and Common Council that demolition grant assistance, estimated at $3 , 000, be approved for demolition of the structure described above. I recommend adoption of the form motion. A4 Kenneth J. Pacific on the Patten Park property is a single family wood frame dwelling once occupied by the park maintenance caretaker . This building was to be renovated for park maintenance shop purposes . However , upon inspection of the facility it was determined that it would not be cost effective to attempt renovation . Since then vandals and trespassers have also entered the premises and caused further deterioration to the structure , whereby it now poses a hazardous situation . Boarding up of the building has been fruitless as vandals and trespassers continuously break in . As I have no other means of financing the demolition I am submitting this request through your department for- a demolition assistance grant not to exceed $3 ,000. 00 . If additional information on the matter is needed , please advise . Your favorable consideration will be greatly appreciated . A aIE .
