Vernon Ave. from Base Line to 16th Finance: , C 1A a Council Notes: 1 VW Agenda Item No. iot CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Staff Report Subject: Resolution awarding contract to Bonadiman-McCain, Inc. for Installation of Storm Drain Improvements at Mt. Vernon Avenue from Base Line Street to 16th Street, Project No. 7-D13 (CSDP) per Plan No. 10097. Background: In March 1995, the City installed the lower portion of the Mt. Vernon Avenue storm drain from the outlet at Lytle Creek Channel to Mt. Vernon Avenue and Base Line Street. The City's Storm Drain Master Plan further calls for extending the storm drain North to 16`h Street as was adopted in the current Capital Improvement Program. The plans and specifications for this project are complete and the project is ready to be awarded. The estimated project costs are as follows: Construction Estimate $550,435.00 Contingencies $ 55,044.00 Design, Inspection and Contract Administration $ 64,900.00 Total $670,379.00 This project was advertised locally; the following companies responded. San Bernardino $550,435.00 Trautwein Construction Riverside $715,866.00 Fischer Plumbing San Bernardino $732,759.00 Financial Impact: Funding for this project in the amount of $697,900.00 was approved at the Mayor and Common Council meeting on July 10, 2000. All costs incurred will be charged to Account No. 248-368-5504-7169 (Install storm drain in Mt. Vernon Avenue from Base Line Street to 16`h Street). Recommendation: That the Mayor and Common Council adopt the Resolution awarding a contract to Bonadiman- McCain, Inc. for Installation of a Storm Drain at Mt. Vernon Avenue from Base Line Street to 16th Street, Project No. 7-D13 (CSDP) per Plan No. 10097. 00PI 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN 3 BERNARDINO AWARDING A CONTRACT TO BONADIMAN-MCCAIN, INC. FOR INSTALLATION OF STORM DRAIN IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO. 7-D13 4 (CSDP), AT MT. VERNON AVENUE FROM BASE LINE STREET TO 16TH 5 STREET PER PLAN NO. 10097. 6 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 7 8 SECTION 1. Bonadiman-McCain, Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder for 9 installation of storm drain improvements, Project No. 7-D13 (CSDP), at Mt. Vernon Avenue 10 from Base Line Street to 16th Street per Plan No. 10097. A contract is awarded accordingly 11 to said bidder in a total amount of $550,435.00, with a contingency amount of $55,044.00 12 but such award shall be effective only upon being fully executed by both parties. All other 13 14 bids y rejected.therefore are hereb jected. The Ma y y or is hereby authorized and directed to execute 15 said contract on behalf of the City; a copy of the contract is on file in the office of the City 16 Clerk and incorporated herein by reference as fully as though set forth at length. 17 SECTION 2. This contract and any amendment or modifications thereto shall not take 18 effect or become operative until fully signed and executed by the parties and no party shall be 19 20 obligated hereunder until the time of such full execution. No oral agreements, amendments, 21 modifications or waivers are intended or authorized and shall not be implied from any act or 22 course of conduct of any party. 23 SECTION 3.
