Synopsis of Previous Council Action: 11/17/2014 Resolution No. 2014-403 was approved authorizing the issuance of a Request for Proposals for the Design and Construction of Outdoor Basketball Courts and Other Renovations at Nunez Park in the City of San Bernardino 1/5/2015 Resolution No. 2015-4 was approved Authorizing the Execution of an Agreement and Issuance of an Annual Purchase Order in an Amount Not to Exceed $701,864 to NBI General Contractors, Inc. for the Design and Construction of Two (2) Basketball Courts and Various Other Park Improvements at Nunez Park Located at 1717 West Fifth Street. 4/6/2015 Resolution No. 2015-XXX was Approved Authorizing a Substantial Amendment to the 2014-15 CDBG Action Plan Allocating $503,000 to the City of San Bernardino Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department for Various Improvements at Nunez Park Located at 1717 West Fifth Street. 0 Background: Updated: 4/16/2015 by Georgeann "Gigi" Hanna B Packet Pg. 99 5J 3783 The City of San Bernardino Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department received a grant in the amount of $701,864 from the State of California Urban Parks and Healthy Communities Program. These funds were granted for recreational facility improvements at Nunez Park. The grant was initially awarded on December 12, 2005. On January 5; 2015 the Mayor and Common Council approved a construction contract with NBI General Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $701,864 for the construction of two (2) basketball courts with lighting and various other improvements at Nunez Park. The project was completed on March 18, 2015 and inspected and approved by the State Department of Parks and Recreation. On April 6th 2015, the CDBG substantial amendment in the amount of $503,000 will allow for the completion of the project. $304,800 will be used to construct the following: (1) New ball field lighting - $258,117 (2) Parking lot improvements - $13,813 (3) Trash enclosure - $9,625 (4) New barricade gate - $3,245 (5) Re-tamping of soccer field lighting - $20,000. Passage of this agenda item is critically important to help promote safety, security and wellness at Nunez Park. This additional work will complete the improvement project as a whole.
