the Addition of One (1) Office Assistant (U) Position to the City Attorney's Office.

Financial Impact:
Adding this position to the City Attorney's Office will cost approximately $17,850 for the
remainder of FY 2014-15. The City Attorney's Office will absorb the costs for FY 2014-
15 through salary savings, and future costs will be added to the department's budget for
FY 2015-16.
Motion: Adopt the Resolution.
Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
None.
Background:
On December 23, 2014, SBETA advised that the grant which funded the Receptionist
position within the City Attorney's Office would be terminated. At that time, SBETA
agreed to continue funding this position until March 1, 2015, to provide this office with
the time to either establish a new position, or to have an existing position added to its
structure.
In reviewing the current needs of the department, it was decided that this could be
accomplished by adding one (1) full-time Office Assistant (U) position (Class No.
10109). This position was established by the Human Resources Department on January
23, 2012.
This item was in the process of being scheduled for review at the Personnel Committee
on February 12, 2015; however, on January 15, 2015, the City Attorney's Office was
advised indirectly that it was SBETA's intention to terminate funding prior to the March
1, 2015, deadline, thus increasing the urgency of adding this position to the City
Attorney's Office structure.
